Thanksgiving week in Moab

In 2021, we started a family tradition of heading to Moab, Utah, for the week of Thanksgiving. It’s not too cold, definitely not hot, and not crowded. It’s just about perfect, and we’ve continued this tradition in 2022 and 2023.

We love the Horsethief BLM campground for the RV spots about half way to Deadhorse Point from the Moab Giants turnoff of US 191. We’ve camped there three times now, and it’s been perfect. I imagine this campground gets full in the spring and early fall, but nobody is there over Thanksgiving.

This year, I brought my new Lynskey GR300 gravel bike and did a few longer road rides from Arches NP back to the campground. While Moab is known for its mountain biking, road cycling is just as great.

Here are a few photos from our campground and a ride I did at dusk.

Here are some photos from Arches National Park, specifically the Sand Arch area and Delicate Arch.

Here are a few photos from Canyonlands National Park, specifically the Upheaval Dome hike.

Thanks for coming on this journey with me. I hope you can join me again in the future!
